Intel BIOS Issues
The opinions expressed on this page are my own and may not be based on fact, they are purely MY own opinion, based on various customer requests that I've received here and through my efforts attempting to help these stricken Intel customers.
I have already wasted many hours looking for support/Solutions at the various Intel web sites. The sort of support that should have been easy to find. In fact the support i needed to help the many Intel customers that do approach us with their mainboard in their hands, was quite simply, not available from the Intel web site.
As yet we are not able to assist in replacing BIOS Chips for most intel Mainboard's unless you have your BIOS rom file backed up. We not advise customers to buy intel manufactured mainboard's either as in the event of a bad flash you may be stuck with a paperweight if you cannot recover it using Intel's recovery methods.
The vital rom files needed for Programming the Intel BIOS Chips do not seem to be available for download from Intel in the correct format needed for use here. And neither is there any sort of straight forward compiler for producing the needed ROMs.
Sure you can get files for updating the BIOS in the normal fashion, however once extracted, the files produced are a rather large over complicated array of mixed files. Not a rom file of the correct size to be seen.
We have so many other makers to cover with our service, we simply do not have the time to develop this Intel section, mainly due to Intel's Over Complicated BIOS Support Structure, which in reality results in a lack of proper BIOS support for a lot of their customers.

Unified Extensible Firmware Interface
UEFI Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, developed by Intel. UEFI Frightens me. I've been watching the development of Pc's here right from the start.
In my opinion Intel's BIOS Support is already very bad, do we really need any more added complication and if so for what reasons?. Is it for our benefit or theirs.
I'm seeing instances where bios files from the larger OEM Companies are being downloaded and do not contain all the code needed to restore any given machine.
in reality the files are very misleading to a company such as ours as they are often only a fraction of the size of the EEPROM fitted to any given machine. One simply has to ask the question, what happened to the missing intel software ?.
